Participants Take Walk Down the Memory Lane at BAU Alumni Meet

Bhagalpur: The two-day alumni meet of Bihar Agricultural University (BAU) that concluded this evening proved to be an occasion for participants to take a walk down the memory lane. Quite a large number of former students who participated in alumni meet remembered the grand old days spent at their alma mater.

Attributing their success in life to their alma mater, the alumnus of university in course of the meet held threadbare discussion on cooperation they can extend in growth of university.

Inaugurating the alumni meet earlier yesterday, Dr D R Singh, Vice-Chancellor (VC), BAU also said the university looks forward to active cooperation of former students in all round development. Ponting out their alma mater had played pivotal role in their carrier growth he said it is time when alumnus through their carrier experiences could contribute significantly in growth of university.

A traditional lamp was lighted on the occasion by VC to mark inauguration of the meet. Earlier to convey message regarding water conservation, led by VC a token ritual of Jalarpan was conducted by participants and university authorities.

The glorious history of the university was shown on the occasion through a video film titled “Safarnama” prepared by media center of university. Though it is presently thirteen years BAU was established however the video film incorporated more than hundred-year journey concerning growth of agriculture education in this part of the country since the time foundation of Bihar Agriculture College was laid at Sabour.

Dr P.K Singh and Dr Sanjay Sahay respectively president and vice-president of former students’ union were among those who addressed the participants at inaugural session of meet. The emotional attachment of former students with their alma mater was reflected in number of cases in course of their address. In lighter vein the days spent with friends in campus was also remembered by speakers.

As part of the meet a cultural programme was organized last evening by Bihar Agricultural University Alumni Association. The former as well as present students of university regaled audience with their mesmerizing performances on the occasion.

The participants at alumni meet were taken on campus tour besides field visit today. The suggestions given by alumni in course of campus and field visit were taken note of by university officials who accompanied them. An interactive session between former and present students was also organized today.

In the interactive session valuable guidance was provided by former students to the present students in regards to shaping their carrier and best possible ways for utilizing their knowledge in field of agriculture. The interactive session was followed by a valedictory session held this evening at university auditorium.
