Patna: Soumya Bharti of Bihar moved into the third round of the girls’ singles in the Yonex-Sunrise 34th Sub-Junior National Badminton Championship 2022 (Under 13 Boys & Girls) which began in Lucknow on Saturday. The tournament organised by Uttar Pradesh Badminton Association will continue till November 23.
According to Bihar Badminton Association secretary KN Jaiswal, Ishant Raj of Bihar also won his boys singles match and entered the round 32.
In another girls singles match Bihar’s Suhani lost to Smita of Assam. Another Bihar U-11 player Ashadullah also lost his first round match.
The National badminton is being organised at BBD UP Academy, Gomti Nagar Lucknow.
Bihar team: Pranjal Veer, Kavya, Suhani Kumari, all three are from Muzaffarpur, Saumya Bharti from Katihar, Ishant Raj from Samastipur, Mohammad Asadullah from Munger. The manager and coach of the Bihar team is Naveen Kumar Singh and the team manager and coach of the girls’ section is Vindhyavasini Sharma.
The prize money in the championship is Rs 5 lakh. The sponsor of the championship is Yonex-Sunrise.
