Patna: Manthan, a social organisation, hosted its annual Siksha Mahotsav (Education Festival) at Khagaul in Patna on Friday.
Many esteemed persons, including Father Philip Manthra, former director and founder of Manthan, Father Juno, Father Kariakat Jose, Father Albert Tirki, Sister Gracy and Danapur block education officer (BEO) Mala Ray, addressed the gathering on the occasion.
In his address, Manthan director Father T Nishant said the primary objective of the event was to spread awareness about education among the Mahadalits, especially the Musahar community. He said education was a powerful tool that could propel the society forward. “Lack of education in the community was hindering the development of the society and its children,” he said while urging the government and the civil society to contemplate this issue seriously.
Father Philip Manthra, who was the chief guest, expressed his satisfaction with the success of Manthan, which was serving as a platform to promote education and empower the underprivileged. He commended the children’s efforts and encouraged them to continue their endeavours.
The children showcased their talents in various competitions, presenting songs, plays, speeches, and colourful dances, leaving the audience in awe.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Shyam Kishore, who expressed his gratitude to all the participants and guests for making the festival “a grand success”.
