Patna, July 5, 2022: Mahavir Temple Trust has claimed that it has set a record in the free cooked food distribution after the Vaishno Devi Temple and Sikh Gurudwaras in North India.
Kishore Kunal, secretary, Mahavir Temple Trust said that in June, about 1.25 lakh people were provided free food from Mahavir Mandir in Patna. The figure does not include the number of poor people who had food in front of the temple.
He further added that last month, 64,829 devotees had food in the Ram Rasoi run by the Mahavir Temple Trust in Ayodhya. Nine types of delicious dishes are being served free of cost to the devotees, who visit Ramlala at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi. This is the largest food distribution centre in Ayodhya, run by the Mahavir Mandir Trust in the Amava Ram temple complex, adjacent to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi. For the first time in the history of Ayodhya, such a regular food distribution centre is being operated on such a large scale. Ram Rasoi has become very popular among Ram devotees coming from faraway places of India and abroad and the fame of Mahavir Mandir is spreading even in the remote countryside.
From January 22, 2018, devotees have been having free food at Sita Rasoi on behalf of Mahavir Mandir Trust in Punauradham of Sitamarhi, the place of birth of Goddess Janaki. In June, 4306 devotees had food here. Seven types of dishes are being served at Sita Rasoi both in the afternoon and at night.
Free food is also being provided to the patients admitted at the hospitals run by the Mahavir Mandir Trust. Patients also get free breakfast in the morning. Mothers of small children, who are dependent on breast milk and other food, get special food free of cost. Patients suffering from diseases like diabetes are given food as per the advice of doctors. In the month of June alone, 53,567 patients were provided free food from Mahavir Mandir in Mahavir hospitals. In Mahaveer Cancer Institute, 47,493 patients were given free food. In Mahavir Vatsalya Hospital, 4347 patients got free food on behalf of Mahavir Mandir Trust. Last month, 1727 patients had free food in Mahavir Arogya Sansthan, run by Mahavir Mandir Trust.
Apart from this, two to three hundred poor persons take food every day in front of the temple. Devotees deposit money for Dardri Narayan Bhoj. But no amount is taken for Ram-Rasoi or any other food distribution centre.
