Patna: Madhya Pradesh handed Bihar a crushing defeat by an innings and 214 runs in the Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy Under-23 Men’s Cricket match. Bihar managed just 112 runs in their first innings and 78 in the second, while Madhya Pradesh declared at 404 for 4 wickets in their first innings.
Madhya Pradesh’s bowlers, led by Soumya Kumar Pandey, who claimed 12 wickets across both innings, dismantled Bihar’s batting line-up. Adhiraj Pratap Singh supported with a total of 5 wickets.
Resuming at 332 for 2 on the final day, Madhya Pradesh declared at 404 for 4. Notable contributions came from Chanchal Rathore, who remained unbeaten on 143, and Akshat Raghuvanshi with 121. Mohammad Arhan Akil added 59 and Vikas Sharma contributed 34.
For Bihar, Manish Kumar took 2 wickets for 104 runs, while Mohammad Izhar and Suraj Kashyap claimed one wicket each.
Bihar’s second innings collapsed dramatically, losing their first two wickets with only 1 run on the board and being bowled out for just 78. Key batters like Animesh Kumar, who had scored a half-century in the first innings, and Veer Abhimanyu failed to open their accounts. Suraj Kashyap top-scored with 28, but the rest of the batting line-up crumbled under the pressure.
Soumya Kumar Pandey took 5 wickets for 35 runs in the second innings, while Adhiraj Pratap Singh and Yuvraj Nema contributed 2 wickets each.
