Katihar: Madhepura and Purnia won their matches played on Friday in the ongoing Moinul Haque Cup 71st Bihar State Inter District Football Championship at the local Rajendra Stadium. This is the second win for both teams. Purnia defeated Araria 2-1 and Madhepura defeated Kishanganj 8-1.
In the first match of the day in Group B of Region 4, Arraria took the lead as Babul Banki scored the first goal of the match for Araria in the eighth minute.
In the second half, Innocent Hembram scored the equalizer in the 58th minute of the game. While Dilip Kumar Hembram sealed the team’s victory in the 79th minute.
Referee Roshan Gupta showed yellow cards to Purnia’s Lalji Hembram and Araria’s Ariyal Haque. Harendra Kumar Yadav, Vishal Kumar, and Mukesh Rai were the assistant referees for the match.
In the second match of the day, Madhepura led 3-1 until the first half. For them, Sanjeev Kumar Soren opened the scoring in the fourth minute. After this, Rakesh Hansda completed his hat-trick by scoring three consecutive goals.
He scored in the 21st, 39th, 58th, and then in the 88th minute. Umesh Besra scored two goals in the 60th and 63rd minutes. Apart from this, Sumit Tuddu scored another goal in the 67th minute. Somnath Chowdhary scored the lone goal for Kishanganj in the 37th minute.
Referee Mukesh Rai was the referee for the match. Mohan Kumar, Vishal Kumar, and Harendra Kumar Yadav were the assistant referees.
Syed Imtiaz Hussain, secretary of the Bihar Football Association, said that on Saturday (August 26), the first match will be played between Katihar and Purnia at 8 am and the second match will be played between Araria and Kishanganj at 3.30 am.
