  • Hockey Jharkhand, Manipur Hockey and Hockey Association of Odisha won their respective Sub Junior Men’s category matches

Ranchi: The fourth day of the 1st Hockey India Sub Junior Men & Women East Zone Championship 2023 in Ranchi, Jharkhand, saw Hockey Jharkhand, Manipur Hockey, and Hockey Association of Odisha register victories in their respective matches in the Sub Junior Women’s category. Hockey Jharkhand, Manipur Hockey, and Hockey Association of Odisha also won their respective games in the Sub Junior Men’s category.

The first match of the day saw Hockey Jharkhand beat Assam Hockey by a comprehensive 24-0 scoreline in Pool A of the Sub Junior Women’s category. The goalscorers for Hockey Jharkhand were Kumari Shanti (2’, 4’, 28’, 29’, 59’), Hemrom Leoni (7’, 18’, 25’, 54’, 56’, 58’, 60’), Aind Neha (8’, 13’), Mundri Saroj (10’, 48), Minz Radhika (11’), Sisliya Sandi Purty (16’), Captain Anupriya Soreng (20’, 31’), Lakra Ankita (26’) and Mundu Sukarmani (33’, 46’, 55’).

Manipur Hockey beat Hockey Bihar by 8-2 in the second match of the day in Pool A of the Sub Junior Women’s category. Captain Prinja Devi Moirangthem (5’, 26’) opened the account for Manipur Hockey, followed up with goals from Seram Henthoi Chanu (8’, 11’, 48’), Bidyaluxmi Devi Hudrom (9’, 32’), and Tongbram Lanchenbi Devi (58’). Akansha Yadav (12’, 57’) scored a brace for Hockey Bihar.

The third match of the day saw Hockey Association of Odisha defeat Hockey Bengal by 12-0 in Pool A of the Sub Junior Women’s category. Anjana Xaxa (8’, 10’, 30’), Janhabi Bada (10’, 45’, 50’, 58’), Captain Neharika Toppo (26’, 46’), Drupati Naik (32’), Supriya (43’), and Sadam Ashika (51’) all scored to seal the victory for Hockey Association of Odisha.

Hockey Jharkhand defeated Assam Hockey by a 10-0 scoreline in the fourth match of the day in Pool A of the Sub Junior Men’s category. Patras Hassa (11’, 23’, 28’) led the goalscoring efforts with his hat-trick, while Topno Ganga (8’, 51’), Tete Sumit (15’), Hemrom Tintus (23’, 35’), Captain Vijay Bhoy (32’), and Kerketta Sujeet (57’) also pitched in with goals of their own.

The fifth match of the day saw Manipur Hockey beat Hockey Bihar by 3-0 day in Pool A of the Sub Junior Men’s category. Manimatum Maibam (9’, 47’) scored a brace for Manipur Hockey while Singh Ningombam Ronin (30’) netted a field goal to confirm their victory.

The last match of the day saw the Hockey Association of Odisha beat Hockey Bengal by 13-0 in Pool A of the Sub Junior Men’s category. The goal scorers for Hockey Association of Odisha were Lakra Ashish (6’), Dadel Jaystanley (10’), Lakra Ritik (18’), Kerketta Mandeep (19’, 38’), Lakra Bimal (25’, 32’), Lakra Salman (26’, 29’, 30’), Bidyananda Singh Yumkham (28’, 52’), and Lakra Aklesh (57’).
