Patna: Hemant Sinha Memorial Cricket Tournament had a grand start on Thursday at the YCC Cricket Academy at the Shakha ground in Rajendra Nagar, Patna on Thursday. The tournament was inaugurated by senior East Zone coach Adhikari Madan Mohan Prasad. Everyone was welcomed by the academy coach Santosh Kumar while the vote of thanks was expressed by the university cricketer Rahul Kumar.
The inaugural match was played between YCC Orange and YCC Yellow which remained incomplete due to rain.
YCC Yellow won the toss and decided to bat. YCC Yellow managed to score 209 runs after losing all its wickets.
YCC Orange came out to chase the target and scored 99 runs after losing 3 wickets. Due to rain this match has been postponed for the day. Considering the weather tomorrow, this match will start with this score.
Hemant Sinha was a renowned fast bowler who represented YCC Cricket Academy. He died after being hit on the head by a ball during a practice session. In the memory of Hemant Sinha, his best friend Avinash Kumar (former Ranji player, left arm spinner) has ensured to organize this memorial cricket tournament. Hemant Sinha’s younger brother Sharat Sinha (IPS, Additional Commissioner of Police, Delhi) and former Adhikari XI player Sudhanshu Shekhar are giving their full support in this event.
