Patna: Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Renu Devi honoured joint secretary of Ball Badminton Federation of India Gouri Shankar with Guru Chankaya Award and Mitali Mitra, assistant professor (health and physical education) DRPSPM Bihar Vidyapeeth with Sarojini Naidu Award for encouraging and promoting many sports in the state at Sports Promoter and Player Award ceremony organised by Ishwar Dayal Welfare Trust at Shri Krishna Chetna Parishad, Daroga Rai Path here on Sunday.
Earlier, the award ceremony was inaugurated former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Renu Devi by lighting the lamp. Addressing the players and sports lovers present at the award ceremony, Renu Devi said that sports and players should definitely get due respect. The players of Bihar have brought laurels to the state on the strength of their sportsmanship in the country and abroad. “Players are not getting respect according to their performance. Certainly there is a lack of infrastructure here yet our players is no less than anyone”, she said.
Special guest former Rajya Sabha member Brahmdev Anand Paswan and guest of honour, Chairman of Grappling Committee of Bihar, Kislay Kishor also addressed the function. The guests were welcomed by Anamika Paswan, secretary, Ishwar Dayal Welfare Trust. She said every year sports promoters and players would be honoured by the trust. In the award ceremony, 7 sports promoters and 20 international and national players of different sports were honoured.

Sarojini Naidu Award – Mitali Mitra (Assistant Professor, DRPSPM).
Sports Promoter Award – Bharat Bhushan (Secretary, All Bihar Carrom Association), Jyoti Kumar (Secretary, Softball Cricket Association of Bihar), Ranjan Kumar Gupta (Secretary, Bihar Pickleball Association), Raj Kumar Nirala (Life Member, Grappling Wrestling Committee of Bihar) ), Rajesh Kumar Singh (Secretary, Vaishali District Athletics Association), Ravi Ranjan Kumar (Secretary, Vaishali District Ball Badminton Association), Ved Prakash (National Arbiter Chess).
Ishwar Dayal Eklavya International and National Player Award:- Madhu Kumari (International Women’s Football), Sonali Ghosh (International Ball Badminton), Poonam Kumari (International Ball Badminton), Priya Rani (International Rated Chess).
