Patna: Gaya defeated Nalanda by six wickets in last league match of the BCA Inter District Cricket Tournament to become group champions. With this all the matches of the league round which started on February 18 ended. Patna, Bhagalpur, Begusarai, Gaya, Darbhanga, Kaimur, Siwan and Katihar emerged champions of their respective groups. One extra team from each zone will be made to participate in the super league. The three-day super league will be played by dividing a total of 16 teams into four groups.
In the Magadha zone, Gaya have won 3 and lost 1 in four matches with a total of six points. Jehanabad also have the same number of points, but on the basis of run-rate, the Gaya topped the zone and qualified for the Super League. Nawada stood third with four points, Nalanda fourth with two points and Sheikhpura fifth with two points.
Gaya won the toss and invited Nalanda to bat. Nalanda scored 216 runs for six wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Munna Kumar played an unbeaten inning of 85 runs.
Gaya won the match by scoring 217 for four in 40.4 overs with the help of Md Saifullah’s 96 runs.
