Patna: Harsh Raj hit an unbeaten 74 and guided Gardnibagh Athletic Club (GAC) to win the title of Patna District Senior Division Cricket League at Urja Stadium on Saturday. GAC defeated RBNYAC by one wicket in the final.
RBNYAC scored 208 runs for nine wickets in 40 overs. In reply, GAC scored 210 runs for nine wickets in 39 overs.
The match was inaugurated jointly by Chief Guest Rakesh Kumar Tiwari, President of Bihar Cricket Association, Special Guest Dilip Singh, Vice President of Bihar Cricket Association, Sunil Singh, GM (Cricket Operations) of Bihar Cricket Association and CH Suryanarayan Raju, Director, Lakshya Easytech LLP, by releasing the balloons in the air. They were also introduced to the players.
On the prize distribution ceremony, Advocate General PK Shahi congratulated the Patna District Cricket Association Ad-hoc Committee for promoting cricket. President of Bihar Cricket Association Rakesh Kumar Tiwari congratulated the entire team of Ad-hoc Committee for the successful conduct of the league and wished them all the best for the upcoming events.
GAC won the toss and decided to field first. RBNYAC got off to a bad start. RBNYC lost two wickets in quick succession as Simukh Singh (2) and Vicky Anand (4) returned to the pavilion. However, opener Indrajit Kumar got the support of Shlok Kumar, and they added 42 runs for the third wicket. RBNYAC’s third wicket fell in the form of Indrajit Kumar for 69 runs. Indrajeet scored 43 runs in 55 balls with the help of 5 fours and 3 sixes. After this, Shlok got the support of Kumar Sahaj and both had an important partnership of 110 runs and due to this partnership, RBNYAC scored 208 runs for 9 wickets in 40 overs and gave GAC a target of 209 runs. Shlok scored 65 runs in 76 balls with the help of 5 fours and 1 six while Kumar Sahaj scored 62 runs in 59 balls with the help of 6 fours and 3 sixes. Roshan Kumar scored 13 runs.
For GAC, captain Shashi Anand took four wickets for 35 runs while Anup, Himanshu Hari, Samar Qadri and Samrat Sunny took one wicket each.
Chasing the target of 209 runs to become champions, the GAC also got off to a bad start. Three wickets fell for 16 runs. Harsh Raj tried his best to handle this faltering innings. Harsh Raj took care of one end despite the fall of wickets at other end. Harsh Raj got full support from Ashish Prakash (29 runs), Vivek Kumar (21 runs), Anoop Kumar (21 runs), Samar Qadri (16 runs) and Himanshu Hari (19 runs). Harsh Raj scored unbeaten knock of 74 runs off 77 balls with the help of 8 fours and one six.
For RBNYAC, Kumar Sahaj took 3 wickets for 19 runs, Rahul Ratna and Shlok took two wickets each. Rupesh and Malay Raj took one wicket each. Harsh Raj was adjudged the player of the final match.
Many dignitaries were honoured during the prize distribution ceremony. Former Secretary of Patna District Cricket Association Late Jai Narayan Sharma and Ajiteshwar Prasad Jittu were given Lifetime Achievement Award. This award was received by their family members. Apart from this, Prof. Amarnath Singh, Ashok Talpatra, Adhikari Madan Mohan Prasad, and Devkinandan Das were specially honoured for their significant contribution to cricket. On this occasion, the players of Patna district team, which won the title of Senior Cricket Tournament organized by Bihar Cricket Association, were specially felicitated.
Along with this, trophies and individual prizes were given to the players of the winning and runner-up teams of Patna District Senior Division Cricket League and Junior Division Cricket League this season. The umpires who successfully conducted the matches were awarded.
