Ahmedabad: Two awardees in the recently held CricHeroes Awards 2022, Kiran Navgire and Shreyanka Patil, were among many women cricketers to have consistently used the CricHeroes analytics and scoring platform and also land lucrative franchise contracts in the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). Kiran, who won the CricHeroes award for “Hard Hitter of the Year” was picked up for a sum of INR 30 lakhs by the UP Warriorz, while off-spinner Bengaluru’s Shreyanka who bagged the CricHeroes “Spell of the Year” award, landed a contract with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for an amount of INR 10 lakhs. Kiran Navgire and Shreyanka Patil picked by UP and Bengaluru franchisees
Speaking about how CricHeroes helps the development of grassroots cricketers, Bengaluru’s Shreyanka said, “As a cricket fan, I’ve grown up checking stats of my favorite players on big platforms like ESPNCricinfo and Cricbuzz, A huge shout-out to CricHeroes for the way it has brought that to the grassroots level. Akin to its name, I truly do feel like a hero looking at the way my stats are presented on the app. Kudos to the CricHeroes team for pulling this off in such a seamless manner, I’m sure it has played a part in the way cricket is played at the grassroots level”.
Shreyanka can be seen in action in the WPL, scheduled to begin from March 04, 2023 and run till March 26, 2023. The inaugural season of what will be India’s top domestic T20 cricket league for women, will have five teams and a total of 87 players have been picked by the five franchises at the auctions held on February 13, 2023.
Overwhelmed at the development, Mr. Abhishek Desai, Founder, CricHeroes, said, “It is a matter of great pride and immense satisfaction for CricHeroes, that the purpose we had set out with, which was to change the outlook of grassroots cricketers across genders towards the sport, is slowly but surely bearing fruit. Kiran and Shreyanka who were top performers at the grassroots level last year, thereby becoming eligible for our awards, have aptly demonstrated how the CricHeroes platform boosts the confidence of grassroots cricketers and acts as a catalyst towards realizing their cricketing dreams. Even talented players like Snehadeepti, Ashwani, Jinti Moni and Laxmi have consistently been using our platform. We are sure that CricHeroes has a small but important role to play in their success at the WPL auctions. We wish all of them a fantastic first WPL season and a long and successful cricketing career ahead.”
While hard-hitting top order batter Kiran Navgire has already made the India cut having played six T20 internationals, Bengaluru offie Shreyanka Patil has been a prolific wicket-taker on the national circuit with her CricHeroes stats recording 94 wickets at an average of 15.22 and a best of 9/24. Andhra opening bat Snehadeepti also averages close to 30 and all-rounders Ashwani Kumari and Jinti Moni Kalita from the eastern cities of Jamshedpur and Guwahati respectively, also boast of healthy batting and bowling averages over the years. Laxmi, wicket-keeper batter from Ghaziabad, has had her hand in 97 dismissals from 79 matches over the years on the domestic circuit.
