Patna: Chhattisgarh delivered a commanding performance to defeat Bihar by 183 runs in the Men’s U23 State A Trophy One Day match at the Sports Hub International Cricket Stadium, Trivandrum.
After winning the toss, Chhattisgarh opted to bat and set a mammoth target of 358 runs for 7 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Their innings was a masterclass in aggressive and balanced batting, leaving Bihar’s bowlers struggling to find answers. Among Bihar’s bowlers, Prithvi Raj, Ankush, and Suman Kumar picked up two wickets each, while Aryan Raj claimed one. Despite their efforts, Chhattisgarh’s batsmen consistently built pressure and exploited gaps in Bihar’s bowling strategy.
In response, Bihar’s chase got off to a disastrous start as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Ayush Loharuka was the lone bright spot for Bihar, scoring a gritty 87 runs, but his efforts went unsupported as the rest of the batting line-up faltered. Bihar were bowled out for a mere 175 runs in 44.4 overs.
Chhattisgarh’s bowlers maintained control throughout the innings. Varun led the attack with 4 wickets, while Vikalp Tiwari took 2. Gaurav, Deepak, and Dev each contributed with a wicket, ensuring Bihar never gained momentum in their chase.
This emphatic victory underscores Chhattisgarh’s dominance and establishes them as serious contenders in the tournament. Meanwhile, Bihar will need to regroup, refine their strategies, and focus on delivering consistent performances in their upcoming matches.
