BSPHC Initiates Training Programme For Effective Control of Power Theft

Bhagalpur: To ensure effective control over power theft, a training programme aimed at sensitizing officials particularly junior and assistant engineers has been initiated at state level by Bihar State Power Holding Company (BSPHC).

Initiated at behest of Sanjeev Hans, chairman cum managing director of BSPHC, the design of the training programme includes making participants aware about procedural requirements concerning raids and pursuing power theft case properly after lodging FIR in connection with the theft.

As part of BSPHC state level initiative to prevent power theft, a training programme for sensitizing officials was held here today. A team headed by Prakash Nath Mishra, energy accounting official of BSPHC imparted training to the participants.

Coordinated by Kumar Gurav Pandey, superintending engineer, Bhagalpur circle, the training programme stressed on behavioral, organized, lawful and decision making essentialities.

Behaviour with consumers, points to be noted while conducting raid in household, behaviour with females and children besides technical aspects of determining power theft were underlined by resource persons in course of the training programme.

Spread over number of sessions, the participants were briefed measures needed for creating awareness among people and also modalities for declaring a particular area power theft free.

Detailed discussions were also held in course of the training session on honour that can bring for an area declared as power theft free. It may be mentioned efforts of revenue collection and power dues have been stepped up by BSPHC in recent months.

Prevention of power theft is also high on agenda of BSPHC. In Bhagalpur circle alone total 400 cases of power theft were registered till month of December last year. At state level till current month registering total 1200 cases, power connections have been disconnected.

Provisions have been made by BSPHC for deposit of fine amount by consumers through RFMS portal after registration of FIR. Arrangements have been also made to link power theft cases with National Police Portal.  Pranab Kumar Mishra, SDO, Tilkamanjhi subdivision said more than 150 officials participated in training programme.

The team that imparted training included Jai Naryan Prasad, chief security officer and Deepak Kumar Sagar, assistant engineer beside others. On the occasion a training book named B (Behavioral) O (Organized) L (Lawful) D (Decision Making) was released from headquarter.

Indradeo and Santosh Kumar respectively superintending engineers of Jamui and Munger besides Md Shakilur Rehman and Dilip Choudhury, respectively STF head of Bhagalpur circle and superintending engineer of STF Jamui were among those present on occasion of B.O.L.D release.
