Patna: Bihar player Bobby Kumar has been selected in the Indian team for the upcoming 36th King’s Cup World Sepak Takraw Championship to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from July 8 to July 16.
Giving this information, Director General and Chief Executive Officer of Bihar State Sports Authority Raveendran Sankaran said that along with the selection of Bobby Kumar in the national Sepak Takraw team in this championship, under the facility of training abroad by the government, he has also been selected for the training camp organised by the Sepak Takraw Foundation of Thailand from July 17 to August 30, 2023, in Bangkok. It is a matter of great pride for Bihar, he said.
Director and Secretary of Bihar State Sports Authority Pankaj Kumar said that getting a chance for a Bihar player to represent the country in international level competition not only makes Bihar proud but also boosts the morale of other players in Bihar. From the training of Bobby Kumar to the kit, all the necessary facilities and resources were arranged by the Government of Bihar and the Bihar State Sports Authority.
Bihar’s Art, Culture, and Youth Department Minister Jitendra Kumar Rai and Additional Chief Secretary Harjot Kaur Bamrah expressed happiness over Bobby Kumar being selected for the national team and wished him the best in the upcoming tournament.
They said that the Bihar government is always with the players and is always striving for and committed to their all-round development.
