Patna: Bihar wrestlers showcased an impressive performance at the 4th Senior, Junior, and Cadet National Grappling Wrestling Championship, held from 18th to 20th November in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, securing a total of nine medals — three gold, five silver, and one bronze.
General Secretary of the Bihar Grappling Wrestling Association, Gouri Shankar, shared that Saurabh Kumar won gold in the 53 kg senior men’s category, defeating Uttar Pradesh’s Ravi Vishnoi 5-0 in the final. Shivam Kumar claimed gold in the 73 kg senior men’s category, overcoming Haryana’s Ankur Rehman 4-2. In the cadet girls’ 49 kg category, Mahi Kumari earned gold with a dominant 8-0 victory against Manisha of Uttar Pradesh.
Silver medals were won by Bajrangi Kumar (59 kg senior men’s category), Indrajit Kumar (47 kg junior boys), Gorelal Kumar (54 kg junior boys), Priyanka Kumari (60 kg junior girls), and Sunny Kumar (48 kg cadet boys). Adarsh Kumar secured a bronze in the 100 kg senior men’s category.
The Bihar Grappling Wrestling Association’s President, Kishlay Kishore, along with Vice President and National President of the Lohia Janata Dal, Karnveer Singh Yadav (alias Lallu Mukhiya), General Secretary Gauri Shankar, and other dignitaries extended their congratulations to the medal winners.
A grand felicitation ceremony will be held to honour the medal-winning wrestlers, their trainers, and managers. The event, led by Karnveer Singh Yadav, is scheduled for the morning of 22nd November (Friday) in Barh.
