Patna: The 38th National Junior Athletics Championship 2023, held from November 7 to November 9 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, was successfully completed. The athletes of Bihar maintained their dominance and made Bihar proud by winning a total of 11 medals including 6 gold, 4 silver and one bronze.
Giving this information, Director General of Bihar State Sports Authority, Raveendran Sankaran said that in the 2022 championship held in Gauhati last year, Bihar had won a total of 9 medals including 5 silver and 4 bronze medals, but this year Bihar won 6 gold medals. This is a matter of pride for Bihar. In the javelin throw, Virender Yadav has created a new national record in the Under 16 age group and Kinshu Singh in the Under 14 age group.
Gold Medal winners: Durga Singh – 1500 meters race, Piyush – Decathlon, Nishi Kumari – Javelin Throw, Rohit Raj – Triathlon, Virender Yadav – Javelin Throw, Kishu Singh – Javelin Throw.
Silver medal winners: Sunny Raj – Triple Jump. Rohit Raj – high jump, Mohammad Qadir – hammer throw, 4 x 1 00 metre race and Abhay Pandey won bronze medal in hexathlon.
