Patna: Bihar bowlers called the tune to put their side on verge of innings win over Mizoram at the end of the third day’s play of their Ranji Trophy match at Gokulbhai Somabhai Patel Stadium in Nadiad on Thursday. At the end of the day’s play, forced to follow on, Mizoram need 154 runs more in their second innings to put Bihar bat again.
Resuming the day on 36 for two, Mizoram were all out for 176 runs in their first innings. Overnight not out batsman Taruwar Kohli added just 4 more runs before being caught by Sachin Kumar Singh off Abhijeet’s bowling. After that wickets fell at regular interval as Bihar bowlers did not allow Mizoram batsmen to score runs freely. Only wicketkeeper batsman Shreevats Goswami who was unbeaten on 12, defied the Bihar bowling attack. Goswami made 79 runs before being caught by Saurav Kumar off Veer Pratap’s delivery. Goswami fell as the sixth wicket for Mizoram when the team’s total was 144. After the fall of Goswami, Mizoram innings collapsed at 176.
Sachin Kumar Singh was the wrecker in chief for Bihar as bagged four wickets for 24 runs. Abhijeet and Veer Pratap Singh took two wickets each.
Forced to follow on, Mizoram lost their first two wickets for just 25 runs on the board. Taruwar Kohli and Shreevats Goswami added 81 runs for the third wicket to put Mizoram back into the fight. But Shreevats Goswami was caught by Babul Kumar off Ashutosh Aman scoring 49 runs. At the end of day’s play, Taruwar Kohli was batting on 67. His knock contained 8 boundaries and two sixes. Mizoeam were 144 for three at the end of third day’s play.
