Patna: The Bihar government has revised the honorarium for contractual stenographers and lower-division clerks across various departments. In a letter issued today, Dr. B. Rajender, Additional Chief Secretary of the General Administration Department (GAD), communicated the updated pay structure to secretaries of all departments, the Director General of Police, Divisional Commissioners, and District Magistrates.
The GAD stated that the honorarium for stenographers and clerks employed on a contractual basis has been re-determined to ensure uniformity across all departments.
Dr. Rajender highlighted that a committee, chaired by the Development Commissioner and including Additional Chief Secretaries and Principal Secretaries of concerned departments, recommended the revisions. These contractual workers are employed in various departments, necessitating a consistent pay structure.
Revised Honorarium Details
Stenographers: ₹30,000 per month, effective from 8th September 2023.
Lower-Division Clerks: ₹25,000 per month, effective from 1st December 2024.
The decision has brought joy among the affected employees, who view the salary hike as a significant step towards recognising their contributions.
