Bhumi Gupta of Bihar gets first gold medal of East Zone Pickleball

Patna: Bhumi Gupta of Bihar defeated Nandani Sharma of Sikkim in the final match of the singles event of the girls’ under-19 age group of the second East Zone Inter State Pickleball Championship being played at Caper Sports Club, Arya Samaj Mandir Road, Patna under the auspices of Bihar Pickleball Association. Bhumi Gupta easily defeated her Sikkim counterpart 11-1,11-2 and got the honor of winning the first gold medal of the championship. In the boys’ under-19 final match, Himanshu Raj of Bihar won the title by defeating Aditya Gupta of Bihar by 11-2,11-4.

Before this, the championship was formally inaugurated by the chief guest AK Chandra, Principal Executive Director, Ministry of Railways, Government of India after getting introduced to the players. The special guests were Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Director, Adas Private Limited, Chandrashekhar Prasad, Director, Delcon Homes Private Limited, Ram Kumar Singh, Director Caper Sports Complex, Ranjit Kumar, President, Bata Mazdoor Union. Association president Pramod Kumar presided over the function.

Results: 

Under-16 Singles Boys Category – Gold – Anurag Kumar, Silver – Ronit Raj, Bronze – Divyanshu Tandi.

Single men’s category above 50 years – Gold – Jayesh Ashpalya, Silver – Virendra Kumar, Bronze – Fateh Bahadur Khadka.

Over 60 Years Singles Men’s Category – Gold – Shubhranshu Charan Sanghi, Silver – Dinesh Jain, Bronze – Sushil Mishra. Open Singles Women’s Category – Gold – Swastik Mahajan, Silver – Shalu Kapoor, Bronze – Bhumi Gupta.

Singles Women Over 35 Category – Gold – Chandra Maya Rai, Silver – Parul Wadhwa, Bronze – Aditi Joshi.

In the semi-final match of singles men’s category above 35 years, Anand Singh of Bihar defeated Fateh Bahadur Khadka of Nepal in two consecutive sets by 15-12,15-11 and entered the final.
