Bhabhua, April 28, 2024: In a thrilling encounter, Bhojpur clinched a hard-fought victory over Rohtas by 16 runs in the Pool C match of the BCA Senior Men’s Cricket Tournament, organized by the Kaimur District Cricket Association under the auspices of the Bihar Cricket Association.
The match, held at the local Jagjivan Stadium, saw Rohtas winning the toss and electing to field first. Bhojpur, batting first, posted a formidable total of 277 runs, losing all wickets in 49.5 overs. Varun Raj starred with a brilliant century, scoring 104 runs off 123 balls, while Kunal Pandey contributed a brisk 40 runs off 36 balls. Other notable contributions came from Amar Kumar (26 runs), Ankit Singh (25 runs), Hridayanand (24 runs), Ankit Raj (22 runs), and Paramjeet (15 runs).
Rohtas’ bowling effort was led by Tarun Singh, who claimed 4 wickets for 60 runs, supported by Md. Parvez (3 wickets for 42 runs), Shubham Rai (1 wicket for 58 runs), and Sagar Tiwari (1 wicket for 53 runs).
In pursuit of the target of 278 runs, Rohtas fell short, getting all out for 261 runs in 45.5 overs. The highlight of their innings was a spectacular knock by Mohd. Parvez, who scored a blazing 91 runs off just 52 balls, batting at number ten. Siddharth Gautam contributed an unbeaten 38 runs, while Tarun Singh (35 runs), Himanshu Nagar (25 runs), Sushil (16 runs), and Saurav Pratap (15 runs) made valuable contributions.
For Bhojpur, Ankit Singh led the bowling attack with 3 wickets for 47 runs, supported by Samaresh (2 wickets for 39 runs), Paramjeet (2 wickets for 45 runs), Vivek, and Yatharth, who claimed 1 wicket each.
The Player of the Match award was rightfully bestowed upon Varun Raj (104 runs) by Sanjay Singh, the former treasurer of the association.
