Patna: Begusarai defeated Katihar by seven wickets and entered the semi-finals of the BCA Men’s U23 One Day Trophy 2024-25, at Janaki Stadium in Sitamarhi on Thursday.
Katihar won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 209 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs. For Katihar, Sahil Kumar scored 57 runs in 67 balls with the help of 4 fours and 3 sixes. Raja Kumar scored 36 runs in 71 balls, including three fours and one six. Sujeet Kumar contributed 21 runs in 50 balls. Other batsmen also made small contributions to take the team to a respectable score.
For Begusarai, Sudhanshu Rajkumar and Ayush Praveen Kumar took two wickets each. Aniket Subodh Jha and Raj Ravi Mani also took one wicket each.
Chasing the target, Begusarai scored 210 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 39 overs. Shivam Laldev Raj scored 34 runs in 36 balls with the help of 5 fours. Yuvraj Ram Yadav scored 74 runs off 103 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Jayant Jitendra Gautam scored 62 runs in 63 balls with the help of 7 fours, while captain Gulshan Upendra Kumar scored an unbeaten 19 runs.
For Katihar, Raqiv Shahnawaz and Aman Khan took one wicket each.
