Bankipore XI win  Shaheed Bhagat Singh Football Cup

Patna:  Bankipore XI defeated Patna Sahib XI 4-2 via tiebreaker in an exhibition football match to win Shaheed Bhagat Singh Trophy which was organised on the occasion of Independence Day and 75th Amrit Mahotsav at Manoj Kamalia Stadium in Patna City under the aegis of Bharatiya Swayam Sevak Sangh.

Earlier, the match was inaugurated by the vice president of Patna Football Association cum former Mayor of Patna Shyam Babu Rai, president of Patna Football Association Ram Ishwar Prasad alias Sadhu Gope, secretary Manoj Kumar, vice president Shyam Babu Yadav, Vidyabhushan of Raj Milk Football Club, Satyendra Kumar, former footballer Vijay Kumar Sinhaa and Prabhu Dayal. They were also introduced to the players.

As soon as the match started, the players of both the teams started making moves on rival citadel. Several attempts were made by the players of both the teams to score the goal within the stipulated time but it did not happen as the ball was either saved by the goalkeeper or went outside the goalpost. At the end, chief referee Shashi Kumar Uttam resorted to tiebreaker for the match result in which Bankipore XI team netted four goals against the two scored by their rivals. Suraj Kumar and Ajay Kumar scored for Patna Sahib.. Satyam, Neeraj, Bablu and Shahmiev scored for Bankipore.

The referees of this match were Shashi Kumar Uttam, Mohan Kumar, Shubham Kumar and Mithilesh Kumar. Shyam Babu Rai and Vidyabhushan of Raj Milk Football Club gave away the prizes.  Bankipore XI captain Rahul was given the Best-22 award. Many eminent personalities were honoured on this occasion. Everyone was welcomed by the national convener of the Bharatiya Swayam Sevak Sangh, Sharmanand Rai, while the co-convener of the organising committee, Vijay Kumar Sinha Tinni ji propsed a vote of thanks..

Many dignitaries including former SAI coach Nand Kishore Prasad, Patna Football Association’s Sunil Kumar, Gopinath Dutta, Ramesh Kumar Sharma, former footballers Deepak Sinha, Sunil Kumar, Suryakant, Shravan Dayal, GAC club’s Deepak Kumar were present on the occasion.
