Patna: The Baidhanth Prasad Memorial 31st Bihar State Junior Ball Badminton Championship commenced on Wednesday at BP Indraprastha International School, Mithanpura, Muzaffarpur, under the joint aegis of the Bihar Ball Badminton Association, Muzaffarpur District Ball Badminton Association, and Chitransh Sports and Cultural Forum.
In the opening match of the boys’ category, hosts Muzaffarpur defeated Supaul 35-25, marking a strong start to their campaign. Players Ankit Kumar, Akash Kumar, and Aditya Kumar from Muzaffarpur, along with Abhijeet, Raunit Kumar, and Piyush Kumar from Supaul, delivered commendable performances.
The championship was formally inaugurated by Prof Nawal Kishore Yadav, President of the Ball Badminton Federation of India and MLC, who lit the lamp and interacted with the players. Special guests included Gouri Shankar, Secretary of the Bihar Ball Badminton Association; Prof Arun Dayal, Assistant Professor at Jamuni Lal College, Hajipur; Suman Kumar, Director of BP Indraprastha International School; Rajiv Kumar, Director of DPS Muzaffarpur; and Tushar Jain, Proprietor of Priority Bags.
