Patna: A brilliant century (156) by opener Babul Kumar helped Bihar score 293 for the loss of seven wickets on the opening day of the plate group Ranji Trophy match against Manipur at Gujarat College Cricket Ground ‘A’ in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
Bihar won the toss and elected to bat first. Bihar had disastrous start as they lost their opener Binny at 4. Binny made only two runs. However, the second wicket partnership between Babul and Rishav added 78 runs for the second before Rishav departed scoring 39 runs. The second wicket fell at 82. At the same score Bihar lost the wicket of Bipin Saurabh (82/3). Later a fruitful 98 runs partnership between Babul Kumar and Sakibul Gani took Bihar to 180 runs before Gani lost his wicket scoring 39 runs.
In the meantime, Babul Kumar completed his century. Babul made 156 runs off 228 balls with 22 boundaries and three sixes. At the end of the first day’s play captain Ashutosh Aman and Harsh Vikram Singh were on the crease scoring 22 and 11 runs respectively.
For Manipur pace bowler Rex took four wickets for 54 runs.
Earlier, Bihar made one change in their playing XI. Surprisingly, Bihar dropped Adhiraj Choudhary who slammed century in the previous match against Arunachal Pradesh.
