Patna: Army Boys defeated Patel Hockey Academy 7-2 to enter the semifinals of the first Major Dhyan Chand Club Hockey Tournament at BRC hockey ground here on Saturday. The tournament is being orgnaised by Hockey Bihar to celebrate National Sports Day which falls on August 29.
In the second match of the day, the Bihar Regiment defeated Rabi Roshan Hockey Academy 7-0 in a one-sided match and made it to the semi-finals.
Today, Naresh Singh Chauhan, deputy assistant director, Bihar State Sports Authority, Vipin Singh, executive president, Mahamana Malviya Mission Bihar and assistant director youth, Govt of Bihar Alok Kumar Singh were present during that match. In today’s match, national umpires Bhim Kumar, Sanjay Tiwari, Mini Kumari, Preeti Kumari conducted the matches. Students of Eklavya Girls and the students of Delhi Public School enjoyed the match from the gallery. Tomorrow, the first semi-final of this match will be played between Army Sports Company and Sikh Regiment Center at 7am and the second semi-final will be held between Army Boys and Bihar Regiment Center at 8am in the morning, according to Hockey Bihar convener Munindra.
