Bhagalpur: A youth of Shravasti town in Uttar Pradesh abducted at behest of husband of women allegedly in relationship with him has been rescued successfully by Bhagalpur police. The youth identified as Md Salman who had gone to Mumbai for earning livelihood from his native place was asked to come here through Instagram chat.
On his arrival here the victim was abducted and kept in abandoned house in Sarai locality of city. The criminals involved in his abduction brutally assaulted him and demanded Rs five lakh ransom from his father for his release.
Following receipt of information about abduction of the youth on January 16, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) consisting members of District Investigation Unit (DIU), besides Tatarpur and Kotwali police stations were constituted under leadership of Ajay Kumar Choudhury, DSP(City), on directive of Hridaykant, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), for recovery of the victim.
Giving information about safe recovery of the victim at a press conference today Subhank Mishra, City SP, said on basis of technical investigation raids were conducted at places where the victim was kept by his abductors.
Though victim could not be found at places where he was kept initially however subsequently he was rescued by plain clothe policemen near railway track in Moulnachak locality while two criminals involved in his abduction were taking the captive to some other place, Mishra added.
He said the plain clothe policemen who were following the abductors had cordoned the place from where he was recovered. The City SP said two people involved in abduction namely Md Nayar Hasmi resident of Sahbaznagar and Md Sahil resident of Puraini Bazar have been arrested while police is looking for another culprit involved in the case, who managed to escape.
The women allegedly in relationship with the victim has been also detained for interrogation, he informed. Mishra said in course of interrogation it has come to light the jealous husband of the women with whom victim was in relationship had planned his abduction.
The father of victim besides some media persons from Shravasti town had approached local police for rescuing the victim, City SP added. Earlier a video of naked victim being brutally assaulted by his abductors had gone viral beside media reports had also appeared about abduction. Meanwhile local police have made necessary arrangements for treatment of the victim who sustained injuries in assault by abductors.
