PATNA : Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Aaditya Thackeray called on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Tejashwi Prasad Yadav here on Wednesday.
“It was a courtesy call with no political discussions,” said Aaditya Thackeray, who was accompanied by party MPs Anil Desai and Priyanka Chaturvedi.
The meetings with Kumar and Yadav during his daylong visit to Bihar’s capital is considered significant in view of the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections. A large number of voters in Mumbai and its suburbs are migrants from Bihar.
“The Nitish Kumar-led Mahagatbandhan government in Bihar is doing a good job,” he told reporters after his meetings with the state chief minister and the deputy chief minister.
Aaditya Thackeray said he met Tejashwi for the first time. “We have been in touch with each other but could not meet earlier due to covid. However, we had talking on telephone even when he was the leader of Opposition in Bihar and I was a minister in the (erstwhile) Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by his father Uddhav Thackeray in Maharashtra,” he said.
“During our meeting today, Tejashwiji and I discussed various issues but not politics,” he said. “Tejashwi and I are of the same age. If all young leaders keep talking among themselves, we will be able to do good in the country. This friendship will go ahead, ” he added.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, Tejashwi referred to the split in Shiv Sens brought about by current Maharshtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde with the backing of the BJP. “Everyone saw what happened in Maharashtra… together we destroyed BJP in Bihar, our only agenda is peace in the country,” he said. “The current challenge is to save the law, the democracy and we will do anything to save it,” Tejashwi added.
