Patna: The first day of the 16th Bihar State Senior, Junior, Sub Junior, and Youth Boys and Girls Road Cycling Championship, organised by the East Champaran District Cycling Association under the banner of the Cycling Association of Bihar, saw a strong showing from East Champaran cyclists across several events.
In the 8 km individual time trial for Youth Girls, East Champaran riders dominated the podium, with Supriya taking first place, followed by Shalini in second and Avanshika in third. In the Youth Boys’ 8 km race, Hrithik Kumar of East Champaran secured first position, while Neeraj of Parivartan came second and Mukesh Kumar from Rohtas placed third.
For the Sub Junior Girls’ 8 km race, Amrita Kumari from Siwan finished first, with East Champaran’s Srishti Kumari and Siya Kumari securing second and third places, respectively. The Sub Junior Boys’ 8 km event saw Shashi Yadav of Siwan winning first place, Aryan Singh of Purnia finishing second, and Shaurya Kumar from East Champaran taking third.
In the Junior Girls’ 16 km race, Suhani from Saran emerged victorious, with Shalini Kumari of Purnia coming in second, and Appi Kumari of East Champaran finishing third. In the Junior Boys’ 16 km time trial, Aryan Tejas of Purnia secured first place, Vikas Yadav of Siwan placed second, and Deepak Kumar of East Champaran took third.
The Senior Girls’ 24 km time trial saw Baby Kumari of East Champaran finishing in first place, Manju Kumari of Saran taking second, and Shweta Kumari, also from East Champaran, placing third. In the Senior Boys’ 24 km race, Prahlad Kumar of Gaya secured first position, with Nitish Kumar and Vikas Kumar Singh of Bhabua finishing second and third.
The event, held on the Piprakothi-Gopalganj four-lane near Garhwa Khajuria under Kotwa police station, was inaugurated by Deputy Mayor of Motihari, Dr. Lalbabu Prasad, alongside key dignitaries including Amresh Kumar Sharma, Project Director of NHAI Motihari, Dr. Kaushal Kishore Singh, Secretary of the Cycling Association of Bihar, and Vijay Pandit, District Sports Officer of West Champaran. The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Atul Kumar, President of the District Cycling Association, Siddharth Verma, Secretary of the East Champaran District Cycling Association, and other officials, with a large gathering of cycling enthusiasts.
