Hajipur, Vaishali: As part of the National Sports Day celebrations, the Vaishali District Ball Badminton Association organised a one-day men’s and women’s ball badminton match at Kushwaha Ashram in Hajipur, honouring the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyanchand.
In an intense men’s match, Patna triumphed over the host team Vaishali with scores of 36-34, 30-35, and 35-30. On the other hand, the women’s category saw the host Vaishali team claim victory against Patna with decisive scores of 35-20 and 35-29.
Notable performances in the men’s match were delivered by Rahul, Prince, and Rohit from Patna, alongside Vinod Kumar Dhoni and Akash from Vaishali. In the women’s match, international players Priya Singh, Vandana, Muskan, and Kavita from Vaishali, as well as Harshita, Muskan, Khushi, and Divya from Patna, showcased remarkable talent.
The day concluded with a prize distribution ceremony for the winning and runner-up teams. The awards were presented by the chief guest, Hajipur Nagar Chairperson Sangeeta Kumari, and the special guest, Vaishali District Women’s Police Station Head Moni Kumari.
During her speech, Sangeeta Kumari pledged continued support for athletes across all sports, including ball badminton, urging them to bring pride to their district, state, and nation through their dedication and focus. Moni Kumari also encouraged the players, promising full administrative support.
The event was opened with a welcome address by Vaishali District Ball Badminton Association Secretary Ravi Ranjan Kumar, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Bihar Ball Badminton Association Secretary Gauri Shankar.
