Yuvan Raman and Ankita Raj Emerge Victorious in Bihar State Under-9 Chess Championship

Patna: The Bihar State Under-9 Chess Championship, organized by Khelo Chess Academy under the aegis of the All Bihar Chess Association, concluded today at Aqua Water Park, Saguna Mor, Patna. The three-day event saw intense competition, with Yuvan Raman of Muzaffarpur and Ankita Raj of Patna emerging as the champions in the boys’ and girls’ categories, respectively.

In the final round of the boys’ category, Yuvan Raman from Muzaffarpur clinched the title by defeating Aakarsh Anand of Patna on board one. Devansh Keshari of Patna secured the runner-up position by defeating Yashu Yashasvi of Nalanda on board two. Abhiraj Kumar Arunav from Muzaffarpur claimed the third spot with 5.5 points.

In the girls’ category, Ankita Raj displayed remarkable consistency, winning the championship with a perfect score. In a gripping match on the top board, Ankita defeated Trisha Ranjan, who played with the black pieces, to secure the title. Trisha, with four points, was declared the runner-up based on her top-board result. Kirti Sinha and Rajshree, both with four points, finished third and fourth, respectively, based on tie-break points.

The prize distribution ceremony, held after the final round, featured prominent personalities including Diljeet Khanna, President of the All Bihar Chess Association; Secretary Dharmendra Kumar; former Secretary Ajit Kumar Singh; social worker Rajesh Agrawal; Prabal Kumar Singh of Aqua Water Park; Gaya District Deputy Superintendent of Police Mehtab Alam; and Danapur GST Joint Commissioner Ganga Prasad, who awarded prizes to the winners. The event was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including the Treasurer of the All Bihar Chess Association, Manish Kumar; Joint Secretary Nandkishore; Shivpriya Bhardwaj; Himanshu Kumar; Organising Secretary Neha Singh; Tournament Director Ashish Raj; and senior chess players Vinay Kumar, Sudhir Kumar Sinha, Minhajul Hoda, and Vijay Kumar. Players from across the state and their parents were also in attendance.
