Patna: Bihar were in danger of an innings defeat in their four-day Cooch Behar Trophy U-19 Cricket Tournament match against Bengal at the end of third day’s play at the Moinul Haq Stadium here on Sunday.
After being all out for 277 in the first innings, Bihar,forced to follow on, were 65 for 6 in their second innings. Bihar still need 124 more runs to save the innings defeat. Bengal declared their first innings after scoring 466 runs for 6 wickets.
On Sunday, the third day of this match, Bihar started the second day ahead of 75 runs without loss. Bihar got the first blow in the form of Agustya when he was out, scoring 80 runs for the team’s total of 129.
After this, two wickets of Bihar fell within seven runs. Satyam Kumar (35) and Prashant Kumar returned to the pavilion without opening their accounts. Captain Animesh Kumar took over the faltering innings. Deepesh and Taufik supported him. Bihar got their fourth blow in the form of Deepesh Gupta. Deepesh was out after scoring 13 runs. Animesh was the fifth wicket to fall. Animesh Kumar scored 70 runs in 166 balls with the help of 7 fours. Once again wickets started falling, and Bihar were all out for 277 runs in 105.2 overs and had to follow on. Taufik scored 31 runs, Anoop Kumar scored 17 runs.
For Bengal, Rahul Prasad took 3 wickets for 60 runs, Mahipal Yadav took 2 wickets for 22 runs, Priyanshu Patel took 2 wickets for 53 runs, Vishal Sao took 2 wickets for 60 runs and Sayan Dey took 1 wicket for 4 runs.
In the second innings, Bihar batsmen failed badly. Prashant Kumar and Agustya started the innings. Bihar lost its first wicket at 19 runs. After that, wickets fell like nine pins. At the end of the day’s play, Bihar were 65 for 6. Prashant Kumar scored 5, Agustya made 9, Animesh Kumar scored 1, Deepesh Gupta scored 4, Taufik made 1, Rahul Ratna scored 15 runs.
