Muzaffarpur: Muzaffarpur beat Vaishali by a solitary goal in the SM Moinul Haq Cup 71st Bihar State Inter-District Football Championship at LS College Ground here on Sunday.
Earlier, before the kickoff, Prasenjit Mehta, President, Bihar Football Association, Ravindra Prasad Singh, Vice President, Bihar Football Association; and social worker Mayank Kumar Munna were introduced to the players.
Muzaffarpur were ahead by one goal at halftime. Muzaffarpur shot into the lead through a penalty kick that the team was awarded by the referee due to a foul in the D area by the defender of the Vaishali team. Sarfuddin converted it into a goal in the 16th minute.
The first half ended 1-0 in favour of Muzaffarpur. In the second half, Vaishali tried hard to score the equaliser, but their forwards missed the target.
Shashi Kumar Suman (Patna), Arun Hansda (Patna), Tarun Kumar (Samastipur) and Santosh Pandey (Buxar) were the judges for the match.
Syed Imtiaz Hussain, Secretary, Bihar Football Association, said that on July 17, East Champaran will take on Sitamarhi.
