Durgapur, West Bengal: Ryan Mohammad of Bihar clinched the title of the 37th National Under-13 Chess Championship, showcasing his exceptional skills on the final day of the competition. The event, held in Durgapur, witnessed Ryan’s stellar performance as he defeated Maharashtra’s Advik Amit on board number two while playing with the black pieces.
The top board clash between Tamil Nadu’s Pranav Sairam and Maharashtra’s Sherla Prathamesh, both leading with 8.5 points, ended in a draw, taking their scores to nine points each. However, Ryan’s decisive victory also brought him to nine points. In the tie-break based on performance, Ryan emerged as the champion, with Prathamesh Sherla declared the runner-up and Pranav Sairam securing third place.
Awards and Recognition:
As the champion, Ryan was honoured with a cash prize of ₹80,000, a trophy, and a citation.
