MP Verma XI set up final clash with Jharkhand XI

Patna: MP Verma XI beat Rest of Bihar XI by 35 runs and entered the final of the All India MP Verma Cricket Tournament at Urja Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

MP Verma XI captain Lakhan Raja won the toss and chose to bat first. MP Verma Xi had a disastrous start as they lost three wickets quickly. Later, Ranji player Yashashvi Rishabh scored 52 runs in 52 balls with seven fours, and Bihar Under-25 player Apoorv Anand scored a valuable 41 runs in 30 balls with the help of four sixes and two fours to take MP Verma XI to a respectable 209 runs.

For MP Verma XI, Akash Parmar scored 29 runs, and U-16 Bihar captain Yash Pratap scored 22 runs in 31 balls with the help of four fours.

Chasing, 210 to win, Rest of Bihar XI were all out for 174 runs. For MP Verma XI, Sanchit Gupta took 5 wickets for 30 runs, Amit Kumar took 2 wickets for 27 runs and Prashant Singh bagged two wickets.

For Rest of Bihar, Satyanand scored 60 runs in 55 balls, and Anoop Ujala scored 34 runs in 26 balls with 3 fours. Chandan Yadav scored 25. Abhishek took 4 wickets for 35 runs, and Arun Yadav took three wickets for 38 runs.

Today’s man of the match award was jointly given to Sanchit Gupta and Amit Kumar.  The Rest of Bihar captain received a cash award of Rs 5000 while MP Verma XI captain Lakhan Raja received a cash award of Rs 10000. The final match of the tournament will be played between MP Vema XI and Jharkhand XI on April 21. Former Indian cricketers Surendra Amarnath and Surendra Khanna will be the chief guests.
