Patna: Janata Dal (United) (JDU) Art-Culture and Sports Cell celebrated the 72nd birthday of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar by organising Bihar Vikas Cup here on Wednesday.
State Vice President of JDU Art-Culture and Sports Cell and Chairman of the Organising Committee Krishna Patel said that the 72nd birthday of Nitish Kumar was celebrated by organizing a symbolic cricket match “Bihar Vikas Cup”. The first match was played between Ex Senior XI and SPCA Senior XI.
Batting first, Ex Senior XI scored 147 runs in 20 overs. Anoop Kumar made 36 runs, Krishna Patel scored 26 runs and Abhinav Joy made 25 runs. SPCA Senior-XI bowler Vikas Krishna was the top pick with 3 wickets while Pankaj Singh, Vikas Rai, and Vishal Ansh Sinha took two wickets each.
In reply, the SPCA Senior XI team achieved the target losing 3 wickets with the help of Vikas Krishna’s unbeaten 72 and Prabhat Kumar’s useful innings of 47 runs. Ananth Kumar, the only bowler of Ex Senior XI, was successful with two wickets.
The second match was played between SPCA Blue Junior XI vs SPCA Red Junior XI. SPCA Red XI defeated SPCA Blue Junior XI by 3 runs in a thrilling match and captured the Bihar Vikas Cup.
Earlier this program was formally inaugurated by Damodar Rawat, former Minister of Bihar Government and popular MLA of Jhajha assembly constituency by cutting the cake after getting introduced to the players.
The chief guest of the prize distribution ceremony was vice chancellor of Patliputra University Professor Rakesh Kumar Singh. 72 lamps were lit to mark the 72nd birthday of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Singh gave away the trophies to winner and runner-up teams. Vikas Krishna and junior team captain Abhimanyu Kumar were awarded player of the match award.
The programme was presided over by Krishna Patel, chairman of the organising committee, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Vice President Ananth Kumar and the programme was jointly anchored by journalist cum commentator Suresh Mishra and general secretary Sanjeev Kumar.
