31 former Ranji players honoured at Anshul Homes Sports Award function

Patna: Bihar industries minister Samir Kumar Mahaseth on Sunday assured to extend all possible help to promote sports in Bihar, especially cricket. Addressing Anshul Homes Cricket Award function at hotel Panache he said: “I have been involved in football for a long time. I honour physically challenged players every year on the occasion of Sports Day. But I am excited to have such an event and to find myself among the players who have made Bihar proud on such a grand scale. All the credit for this goes to Anshul Homes, which deserves thanks.”

As many as 31 former Ranji Trophy players out of selected 46 were honoured on the occasion while 15 people could register their presence for some reason. Two budding players were also felicitated in the ceremony.

Bihar minister Samir Kumar Mahaesth was the chief guest at the function. Former Bihar sports minister and senior RJD leader Shivchandra Ram said that there is a government of grand alliance in Bihar. Soon the Bihar government will also work to give jobs to the cricketers.

On this occasion, RJD spokesperson and president of Bihar Players Association Mrityunjay Tiwari, while addressing the function as a special guest, got emotional while remembering the struggle for the rights of Bihar cricketers. He said that the deputy chief minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav has been a cricketer himself, so work will now be done on the development of cricket in Bihar.

Earlier, the guests were welcomed by Rahul Singh, director of Anshul Homes and Arun Kumar Singh, former joint secretary of Patna District Cricket Association with a shawl and memento. The stage was moderated by RJ Vijeta. Convener Rupak Kumar proposed a vote of thanks. A large number of sports enthusiasts including Dr Mukesh Kumar Singh, Suresh Mishra, Pinku, Ravindra Mohan, Shivam, Srinivas were present on the occasion.

 

Among the players who received the awards were Tarun Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Ram Kumar, Raju Walsh, Pawan Kumar, Sunil Singh, Anant Prakash, Nikhilesh Ranjan, Vishnu Shankar, Avinash Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Prabhat Kumar, Sanjay Ranjan, Colonel Santosh Tripathi, Devki Nand Das, Dheeraj Kumar, Anand Pratap, Satish Singh, Nilkamal, Sanjeev Sinha, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Ajay Narayan Sharma, Suraj Narayan Lal, Rajeev Ranjan Sappu, Neeraj Kumar, Ashok Talpatra, Shivbrat Banerjee, Devesh Chandra, Dhananjay Singh, Devjit Chakraborty, Ashish Sinha, budding players Yashasvi Shukla and Akash Kumar Singh.
