Patna: The Yonex-Sunrise East Zone Inter-State Team and Individual Badminton Championship 2024 will be held at the Lord Buddha Badminton Academy, located on the premises of Delhi Public School in Gaya, from 5th to 8th September.
KN Jaiswal, the secretary of the Bihar Badminton Association and the organising secretary of the tournament, announced that state teams from West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttarakhand, and Bihar will participate in the four-day event.
The first two days of the championship will feature men’s and women’s team events, followed by individual competitions. In addition to the men’s and women’s teams, junior boys and girls from all the East Zone states will compete for top honours in team event, singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events.
Jaiswal also mentioned that a total of 10 events will be organised during the tournament. He highlighted Bihar’s success in the previous championship held in Kolkata, where they secured bronze medals in the junior boys’ team event and junior boys’ doubles.
Chanderkant Sharma of Rajasthan has been appointed as the referee for the tournament by the Badminton Association of India (BAI), while Vikash Sijuar has been named joint organising secretary.
Additionally, Jaiswal noted that a coaching camp for Bihar players commenced today in Gaya. A total of 24 players are participating in the camp, which is being held simultaneously at the Lord Buddha Badminton Academy and Gandhi Maidan auditorium in Gaya.
