Noida/Lucknow, September 28:  In an effort to enhance connectivity in areas surrounding the NCR, including Noida, the Yogi government is set to develop a Comprehensive Regional Transport Plan. Guided by CM Yogi’s vision, the New Okhla Development Authority (NOIDA) is leading the project.

Once the plan is finalized, improved connectivity will extend beyond Noida to include YEIDA, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Dadri, Bulandshahr, and Hapur. Additionally, this plan will pave the way for enhanced connectivity with Delhi, Faridabad, Gurugram, and Haryana regions bordering Uttar Pradesh.

Highlights

  • As per CM Yogi’s vision, the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) is spearheading the project
  • Once completed, the plan will improve connectivity in Noida, YEIDA, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and Hapur
  • It will also lay the groundwork for seamless connectivity with Delhi, Faridabad, Gurugram, and Haryana regions adjacent to Uttar Pradesh
  • Additionally, the plan will address key areas like connectivity to Jewar Airport, with a focus on freight and logistics movement

Notably, the project will also outline a comprehensive strategy for urban transportation, addressing the needs of both the general public and freight logistics, while ensuring seamless connectivity to Jewar Airport.

As part of the project, a technical feasibility report will be developed by the DMRC for the extension of the metro corridor from New Delhi Metro Station (NEL) to Knowledge Park-II in Greater Noida.

Additionally, the DMRC will prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the metro corridor connecting Knowledge Park-II to Noida International Airport. The study for the development of a High-Speed Rail Link (NHSRCL), including a stop at the Noida International Airport Terminal, will also be finalized.

In alignment with CM Yogi’s vision, the project will also encompass the study for a Personal Rapid Transit system linking the under-construction Film City to Noida International Airport.

Furthermore, the ‘Comprehensive Regional Transport Plan’ being prepared by the Noida Authority will include plans for the development of the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (with an interchange at YEIDA), proposed improvements to NH-91 by NHAI, and the blueprint for constructing a link road between Khurja and Jewar.

Simultaneously, efforts will be made to accelerate the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), Light Rail Transit (LRT), Orbital Rail Project, Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP), and various logistics initiatives within the region.

The authority will select a team of consultants to carry out this work. The comprehensive plan will be developed in line with the guidelines set by the Housing and Urban Ministry of the Government of India.

A strategy will be devised to implement smart traffic solutions across all urban areas, identify opportunities for economic development and investment, and create transport services that address future needs over the next fifty years. This initiative will facilitate the advancement of the intermediate public transport system in these regions.
