Lucknow: In celebration of Uttar Pradesh’s Foundation Day, an exhibition is being held at Awadh Shilp Gram from January 24 to 26, which showcases various schemes of the state’s Social Welfare Department. The stalls put up at the exhibition provide insights into how the Yogi government’s schemes are benefiting every stratum of society. It also shows how the benefits of Yogi government’s schemes are reaching the last rung of the society.

The Social Welfare Department is actively implementing multiple schemes catering to the needs of senior citizens, youth, and girls across the state. These include the Old Age Pension Scheme, National Family Benefit Scheme, Old Age Home Scheme, Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, Scheduled Caste Atrocity Prevention Assistance Scheme, and Scholarship Scheme.

As per the data from the financial year 2023-2024, beneficiaries across all age groups have availed themselves of the benefits of these schemes. Notably, the implementation of these schemes leverages technology and transparency, ensuring that the benefits reach the intended recipients.

Aadhaar based payment being made to elderly people through DBT

Presently, 50.21 beneficiaries are receiving old age pension, facilitated through Aadhaar-based payments via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) In Uttar Pradesh. The state boasts 75 old age homes, which are providing free accommodation, food, clothing, medicine, entertainment, and personal care items to 8,000 elderly citizens in the financial year 2023-24.

20,000 applicants availing National Family Benefit Scheme

In the financial year 2023-24, the benefits of the National Family Benefit Scheme have been extended to 20,000 applicants. Under the One-Time Settlement scheme, financial assistance of Rs. 30,000 is directly credited to the accounts provided by the beneficiaries through DBT. Additionally, the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana has witnessed an increase in awareness, resulting in 44,000 mass marriages taking place across the state. Dedicated new portals have been launched for the National Family Benefit Scheme and Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, streamlining the application process.

Empowering Scheduled Castes by providing them justice, economic relief

Under the governance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, special attention is being given to people belonging to the Scheduled Castes. Stringent punishments for crimes against them are being enforced, and economic relief is provided to victims through the Scheduled Caste Atrocity Prevention Assistance Scheme.

In the financial year 2023-24, 14,536 beneficiaries have received benefits, amounting to an expenditure of Rs 1 billion 32 crore.

Empowering the youth with Scholarship Scheme

The Scholarship Scheme has seen widespread participation, with 5.76 lakh general and Scheduled Caste students applying for pre-10th and 15.72 lakh for post-10th grades. Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe students in the tenth class can apply until March 31, 2024, while the eligible students will receive the scholarship through DBT in March.
