Patna: A brilliant century by Yashita Singh (138 not out, 60 balls, 20 fours, 6 sixes) helped Bihar register a thumping 144-run win over Nagaland in the BCCI Women’s Under-19 T20 cricket tournament. This was Bihar’s second consecutive win in three matches. Bihar had lost its first match.
Batting first after winning the toss at ICL Gurunanak College Ground in Chennai, Bihar scored 214 for two in 20 overs. In reply, the Nagaland could manage to score only 70 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Kumari Nishtha and wicket-keeper batsman Mamta Kumari Patel opened the innings for bIhar. Mamta Kumari Patel was included in the team in place of Shruti Gupta. Both the openers shared a good partnership between them and too the team’s score to 26 runs. Bihar got its first blow when Mamta Kumari Patel was dismissed scoring 14 runs off 14 balls.
Kumari Nishtha and Yashita Singh put on 121 runs off 71 balls in their second wicket partnership. Both of them hammered the Nagaland bowlers a lot. Bihar got its second when Kumari Nishtha got out scoring 34 runs in 38 balls with the help of four fours.
After this, Arya Seth gave Yashita Singh a good support and both of them carried the Bihar score to 214 runs for two wickets in 20 overs. Yashita Singh scored an unbeaten 138 off 60 balls with the help of 20 fours and 6 sixes. Arya Seth scored an unbeaten 16 runs off 12 balls with the help of one four.
Extras contributed 12 runs. For Nagaland, Vipeni took 1 for 25 and Bipila took 1 wicket for 36 runs.
In reply, the Nagaland team could manage to score 70 runs for seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs. For Nagaland, Yeliang scored15, Vipeni scored 11, Bipila 11, Kheungjeule 11 runs. Extras contributed 12 runs.
For Bihar, Arya Seth took 2 wickets for 19 runs, Simran Kumari (1 for 8), Khushi Gupta (1 for 14), Kumari Nishtha took 1 for 1 run. Two players were adjudged run out. Bihar will face Hyderabad in their next match on October 6.
