Widows of Vrindavan Send 551 ‘Ram’ and ‘Krishna’ Themed Rakhis to Prime Minister Modi, Continuing Sulabh’s Legacy of Empowerment

Mathura/Vrindavan, August 17: Widows of Vrindavan have prepared “Ram “ and “Krishna” themed 551 Rakhis for the prime minister,Mr. Narendra Modi.

The women living in the ashram of Vrindavan have also prepared special Rakhis with pictures of their Shri Modi Bhaiya, which they have sent for him.

This time the Rakhis with the pictures of “Ram “as well as the colourful pictures of “Bihariji” and Shri Modi have been prepared by the elderly widows living in Maa Sharda ,Radhatila Ashram and Taras mandir Ashram .

This year Rakhi making program was organized at Maa Sharda Ashram . Today the widows were seen decorating Rakhi made by them and sending it to Delhi for the Prime Minister. These Rakhis and sweets will be handed over to Prime Minister’s Office .

With the aim of breaking the social stigma, Late Dr Bindeshwar Pathak, well known social reformer and founder of Sulabh Movement had started organizing all the important Hindu rituals for the widows living in Vrindavan. Rakshabandhan is also one of them.

Mrs. Vinita Verma, Vice President of Sulabh Widow Program said that earlier, on behalf of thousands of widows, four-five widows had gone to Delhi to tie Rakhi to Modi ji . This time we are sending Rakhis to Hon’ble Prime Minister.

At the age of almost 90, mother Manu Ghosh who had personally gone Delhi to tie Rakhi to the Prime Minister,earlier, this year too she is feeling excited by making Rakhi for Modi Ji. She is happy that all Rakhis are being sent for Sri Modi Bhaiya.

Sulabh has created a sense of well being among the widows. It has made various arrangements for their health care, food and other needs on humanitarian grounds.
