Patna: The VTech Champions Trophy Under-15 Cricket Tournament kicked off on Monday, 27th January, under the banner of the Sardar Patel Sports Foundation. The first day featured two thrilling matches, with the Warriors defeating the Lions by 7 runs and the Super Kings edging out the Knight Riders by 9 runs.
In the opening match at Krishna Stadium, Khemnichak Ground, the Warriors won the toss and elected to bat. They posted 120 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Pawan scored 25 runs, while Ayushmann contributed 20. For the Lions, Akash and Prithvesh claimed two wickets each. In reply, the Lions were bowled out for 113 runs in 17 overs, with Yuvraj scoring 22 and Aman adding 18. Amit’s exceptional bowling performance, taking 5 wickets for 19 runs, earned him the Player of the Match award.
The second match saw the Knight Riders opt to field after winning the toss. The Super Kings managed 134 runs for 9 wickets in 15.2 overs, with Alok (25), Rajiv (22), and Priyanshu (20) leading the charge. Aditya Narayan took 3 wickets for 21 runs, while Vishesh picked up 1 for 21. In response, the Knight Riders fell short, being dismissed for 125 runs in 20 overs. Vinay scored 26 runs, and Rahul contributed 22, but Himanshu’s brilliant bowling figures of 3 for 14 helped seal the win for the Super Kings. Himanshu was named Player of the Match.
