Patna: Two-Day volleyball talent search tournaments organised in the memory of martyred IPS KC Surendra Babu concluded at Patliputra Sports Complex on Thursday.
About 300 boys from every corner of Bihar participated in selection tournament. Out of which 98 promising children were selected on the basis of medical and height. The selected 98 players were divided into 8 teams of 12 players and league matches among all the teams were oragnised.
Eight teams were named in honour of martyred policemen viz. Shaheed Randhir Verma, Indranan Mishra, Arun Kumar Singh, Ashok Kumar Singh Vinod Kumar, Sanjay Tiwari, Surendra Prasad and Shaheed Ajay Kumar. In 12 years to 14 years age group final, Shaheed Indranan Mishra team won the trophy by defeating Shaheed Sanjay Tiwari team. Shaheed Ashok Kumar team won the title in 15 years to 18 years age group defeating Shaheed Randhir Kumar Verma’s team.
Arjuna Award and Dronacharya Award-winning coach G E Sreedharan will train these boys at Pataliputra Sports Complex from January 26 to 31. Appropriate arrangements will be made for further training by the Bihar State Sports Authority to the selected talented players.
The talent search tournaments were organised under the aegis of the Government of Bihar for the development of sports and sportspersons.
