Lucknow/Prayagraj: Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is set to operate 7,000 buses to ensure seamless, affordable, and comfortable transportation during the grand, eco-friendly Mahakumbh Mela 2025.
Special arrangements are in place to connect key towns across the state, with a focus on facilitating pilgrims from Purvanchal and providing enhanced services for women and elderly devotees.
According to MD Masoom Ali Sarwar, Mahakumbh’s main bathing days, including Mauni Amavasya (January 29) and Basant Panchami (February 3), will fall between January 13 and February 26, 2025. The Corporation plans to operate approximately 6,800 regular buses and 200 air-conditioned buses in three phases: Phase 1:January 12–23, Phase 2: January 24–February 7, and Phase 3: February 8–27.
He said, “A fleet of 550 shuttle buses will also be deployed to connect parking zones and temporary bus stations to key locations near the Sangam area. In the event of traffic restrictions on key bridges like Shastri Bridge, Phaphamau Bridge, and Yamuna Bridge during peak days, eight temporary bus stations will be set up outside the city, including Jhunsi, Durjanpur, Saraswati Gate, and others.”
He added, “Buses will be operated from Jhunsi Bus Station to Dohri Ghat, Barhalganj, Gola, Uruwa, Khajni, Sikriganj, Gorakhpur Road, Azamgarh-Ballia-Mau and related routes.”
Durjanpur Bus Station will be used for the operation of buses from Jhunsi Bus Station if the Fair Administration stops the operation of buses.
Similarly, buses will be operated from Saraswati Gate Bus Station for Badlapur, Shahganj, Tanda and associated routes and Varanasi and associated routes, from Nehru Park Bus Station for Kanpur and Kaushambi for associated routes, from Bela Kachhar Bus Station for Rae Bareli Lucknow and associated routes and for Faizabad, Ayodhya, Gonda, Basti, Bahraich and associated routes, from Saraswati Hitech City Naini for Vindhyachal, Mirzapur, Shakti Nagar and associated routes, from Leprosy Mission Bus Station for Banda-Chitrakoot and associated routes and Rewa-Sidhi and associated routes.
If the operation of buses at Nehru Park Bus Station is stopped by the Fair Administration, then the buses will be operated from Beli Kachhar Bus Station.
