Lucknow: Citing statistics from the NITI Aayog, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Tuesday that Uttar Pradesh has changed, moving out of the BIMARU state category and heading in the direction of becoming “Saksham Pradesh.”

Handing over appointment letters to 1,573 ANM health workers in an event organised at Lok Bhawan, the Chief Minister said, “In 2015-16, about six crore people, constituting 37.68 percent of the population, were Below Poverty Line in Uttar Pradesh. With our efforts, the percentage of people Below Poverty Line dropped from 37.68 percent to 22 percent in 2019–20 and currently it stands at 12 percent, to the surprise of everyone.

He further said that many of Yogi the states continue to carry the BIMARU state tag even today in the absence of the required development while Uttar Pradesh has risen above it and is now connected positively to the process of development.

The CM congratulated 1573 ANM health workers for their appointments and also the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission for conducting the recruitment process in a fair and transparent manner.

The Chief Minister pointed out, “We identified districts that had lagged behind in the race for development including Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Badaun, Sitapur, Siddharthnagar, Sambhal, Kheri, Hardoi, and Banda. All these were aspirational districts. They underwent a significant change. Then we selected 100 aspirational blocks and started developing them.”

He continued by saying that his government started working on the parameters set by NITI Aayog on education, health, agriculture and water resources, skill development and employment, and economic inequality. The result of this is that today, Uttar Pradesh has been able to move ahead on the path of development.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that in the previous government the youth of the state used to face an identity crisis. “The uncle-nephew duo used to go out for collection of money from people whenever government vacancies were announced. Today, no one can point a finger at the state commission or board. We are taking the recruitment process for government jobs forward in a transparent manner by making better use of technology. The result of this is that there is enthusiasm among the youth of the state who are also willing to contribute to the state’s progress.

Criticising the previous governments, the Chief Minister said that the sick-minded government of the past had made Uttar Pradesh sick.

Since the girls of the state are involved, CM Yogi said that this program is both “Mission Rozgar” and “Mission Shakti” and will thus empower the girls. He said that in the last one and a half years, his government has organized 19 appointment letter distribution programs, under which about 58,000 youth have been given government jobs. If the government has a strong will, it can connect the youth with jobs and employment in a transparent manner.

Congratulating the newly appointed ANMs, the CM said that ASHA workers and ANM health workers were neglected by earlier governments. The vacant posts were not filled. Realizing the importance of ANM health workers, our government started working in this direction. As a result of this, the vacant posts are being filled today.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Minister of State for Medical Health and Family Welfare Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, Principal Secretary for Medical Health and Family Welfare Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma, and officers and employees of the Health Department were present in the programme.
