Patna: Odisha defeated Jharkhand 53-14 in the women’s category on the second day of the 72nd Senior National East Zone Basketball Championships being held at Patliputra Sports Complex, Kankarbagh here.
Anu Oraon of Jharkhand got 8 points, Libel of Odisha got 21 points. In the second match, Uttar Pradesh women continued their winning streak by defeating Uttarakhand 47-19. Vaishali and Aanvi got 9 points for UP while Muskan got 5 points for Uttarakhand.
In the men’s category, Uttarakhand won 61-25 over Andaman and Nicobar and Kesar secured 19 points for the winning team. Earlier, UP men and women started the day with victories. On the other hand, the Bihar women team lost to Bengal.
In the first match of the second day, Uttar Pradesh women’s team defeated Jharkhand by 43-22. In this match Alka of Jharkhand got 8, Anjali got 5 points while for Uttar Pradesh Shruti got 6, Ashwini got 6 and Mehak also got 6 points. In the second match, the women’s team of Bihar lost the match against West Bengal 50-71. For Bengal, Sulochana scored 13, Ritu got 17 points. While for Bihar, Vaishnavi took the maximum 23 points while Nibhaya Raj took 11 points. In the other matches, Uttarakhand men’s team beat Jharkhand 65-41, West Bengal beat Andaman and Nicobar 53-20 and UP beat Odisha 56-36.
