Patna: The seventh day of the Men’s Senior One Day Trophy Tournament, organised by the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA), witnessed a series of exhilarating matches. Teams from Patna, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Bhojpur, East Champaran, Nalanda, Sitamarhi, and Purnia emerged victorious in their respective encounters, with standout performances in both batting and bowling.
1. Patna vs Vaishali (Moinul Haq Stadium, Patna)
Patna won by 102 runs.
Patna set a formidable total of 321 runs for 8 wickets in 46 overs. Kumar Rajneesh starred with a brilliant 105 runs off 83 balls, including 12 fours and 2 sixes. Captain Piyush Kumar Singh contributed 58 runs, while Suraj Kumar Kashyap remained unbeaten on 44 runs. Patna’s bowlers delivered a disciplined performance, with Pawan Kumar taking 4 wickets for 35 runs in 10 overs, including a maiden. Abhinav claimed 2 wickets, while Aslam, Suraj, Akash, and Rajneesh took 1 wicket each.
Vaishali, in response, were bowled out for 219 runs in 43.3 overs. Abhishek Ajay Anand top-scored with 77 runs, supported by captain Abhishek Sanjeev Kumar (29 runs) and Saroj Pramod Soni (26 runs). Vaishali’s bowlers, Kartik Kamal Krishna and Vishal Jawaharlal Kumar, took 3 wickets each, but their efforts were not enough to prevent Patna’s victory.
2. Begusarai vs Samastipur (HURL Cricket Ground, Bihta, Begusarai)
Begusarai won by 173 runs.
Begusarai posted a massive 358 runs for 5 wickets in 50 overs. Nishant Kamal Kumar played a stunning unbeaten innings of 124 runs, including 9 fours and 4 sixes. Prithvi Shobhit Raj (86 runs) and Yuvraj Ram Yadav (71 runs) also made significant contributions. Begusarai’s bowlers, Aniket Subodh and Abhishek Chandan Jha, took 3 wickets each, while Atul Prakash claimed 2 wickets.
Samastipur were bowled out for 185 runs in 38.1 overs. Ujjwal Kumar Yadav scored 70 runs, but the team struggled against Begusarai’s bowling attack. Pujjwal Kumar Yadav and Adarsh Pankaj Parashar took 2 wickets each for Samastipur, but their efforts were insufficient.
3. Bhojpur vs Rohtas (Maharaja College Ground, Bhojpur)
Bhojpur won by 95 runs.
Bhojpur scored 285 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs, with captain Aniket Raj leading the charge with 73 runs. Varun Sant Raj (61 runs) and Amar Bhagwan Kumar (53 runs) also contributed significantly. Bhojpur’s bowlers, Aniket Vashisht Singh and Samaresh Kumar Singh, took 3 wickets each, while Prem, Varun, and Hridya claimed 1 wicket apiece.
Rohtas were bowled out for 190 runs in 42.3 overs. Tarun Kumar Singh top-scored with 49 runs, but the team faltered against Bhojpur’s disciplined bowling. Sagar Tiwari was the pick of the bowlers for Rohtas, taking 4 wickets for 64 runs.
4. Bhagalpur vs Munger (Sandish Compound, Bhagalpur)
Bhagalpur won by 131 runs.
Bhagalpur set a target of 267 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs. Mayank Krishna Chaudhary scored 65 runs, while Ajit Anil Prasad (42 runs) and Sachin Kapil Dev Bhardwaj (37 runs) provided valuable support. Bhagalpur’s bowlers, led by Vivek Subodh Kumar (3 wickets for 20 runs), restricted Munger to 136 runs in 39 overs. Syed Musharraf Gulrez also took 3 wickets for 41 runs.
Munger’s Amit Durgesh Kumar scored 47 runs, but the team struggled against Bhagalpur’s bowling attack. Anshu and Bhanu took 2 wickets each for Munger, but their efforts were in vain.
5. Nalanda vs Gaya (NCA Cricket Ground, Nalanda)
Nalanda won by 12 runs.
Nalanda scored 328 runs in 48.5 overs, powered by Arnav Naval Kishore’s stunning 150 runs, including 11 fours and 12 sixes. Kundan Shashi Verma contributed 82 runs. Nalanda’s bowlers, led by Naman Satyendra Gaurav (5 wickets for 72 runs), restricted Gaya to 316 runs for 9 wickets.
Gaya’s captain Mangal Kumar Maharour scored a brilliant 131 runs, but the team fell short. Pritam Raj took 4 wickets for 53 runs for Gaya, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win.
6. Muzaffarpur vs Sitamarhi (Janaki Stadium, Sitamarhi)
Sitamarhi won by 7 wickets.
Muzaffarpur were bowled out for 181 runs in 38.2 overs. Abhinav Rathendra Alok top-scored with 62 runs. Sitamarhi’s bowlers, led by captain Rajesh Kumar Jha (5 wickets for 59 runs), dominated the innings.
Sitamarhi chased down the target in 36.2 overs, with Aditya Ramesh Kumar Rai remaining unbeaten on 72 runs. Mukesh Mukhiya Sharma (66 runs) and Vipul Rakesh Kumar Krishna (23 runs) also contributed significantly.
7. East Champaran vs Siwan (JP Sinha Stadium, Vaishali)
East Champaran won by 50 runs.
East Champaran scored 319 runs for 6 wickets in 50 overs, with captain Saqibul Manan Ghani smashing 165 runs. Badal Manoj Kanaujia took 6 wickets for 41 runs, restricting Siwan to 279 runs for 8 wickets.
Siwan’s Anubhav Kumar Srivastava scored 102 runs, but the team couldn’t chase down the target. MD Irshad took 3 wickets for 55 runs for Siwan.
8. Araria vs Purnia (Vidya Vihar Cricket Ground, Purnia)
Purnia won by 5 wickets.
Araria scored 244 runs for 4 wickets in 50 overs, with Aditya Jaiprakash Raj scoring 75 runs. Purnia chased down the target in 48.5 overs, with Bhaskar Kunj Bihari Dubey scoring 94 runs. Aman Naresh Kumar and captain Shravan Dilip Kumar took 2 wickets each for Araria, but Purnia’s batting proved too strong.
The tournament continues tomorrow with a match between Madhepura and Katihar. Fans can expect more thrilling cricket action as the competition heats up.
