Patna: Bengal clinched a commanding nine-wicket victory over Bihar in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 cricket tournament on Tuesday. The match, held at Niranjan Shah Stadium Ground C in Rajkot, saw Bengal’s Karan Lal shine as the Player of the Match.
After winning the toss, Bengal opted to field. Bihar posted a total of 147 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Their innings was anchored by Sakibul Gani, who scored a brilliant 79 off 56 balls, including 12 fours and one six. Supporting contributions came from Kumar Rajneesh with 22 runs off 17 balls, Bipin Saurabh with 13 runs off 11 balls, and Ankit Singh, who managed 11 runs off 15 balls.
Bengal’s bowling attack was led by Sayan Ghosh, who claimed two wickets for 32 runs. Prayas Rai Barman, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Mohammed Shami each chipped in with a wicket.
In reply, Bengal chased down the target in just 14 overs, finishing at 150 for the loss of one wicket. Karan Lal was the star of the innings, smashing an unbeaten 94 off 47 balls, laced with nine fours and six sixes. Sudip Kumar Gharami also remained not out, scoring 32 runs off 27 balls, while Abhishek Porel contributed 19 runs off 10 balls.
Bihar’s bowling lacked penetration, with Prashant Kumar Singh taking the solitary wicket, conceding 29 runs in three overs.
Bihar, currently competing in Group A, will play their final match against Madhya Pradesh on 5 December.
