NEW DELHI: Sudeva Delhi FC and Chennaiyin FC beat Zinc Football Academy and Muthoot Football Academy, respectively, at the Deccan Arena in Hyderabad on Thursday, January 26, 2023, to book their spots in the Hero U-17 Youth Cup semi-finals.
With the quarterfinal stage now over, the semifinals are set to get underway on Friday, January 27, 2023, when Himalayan FC Kinnaur will take on Classic Football Academy at 10 AM IST. The second semi-final between Sudeva Delhi FC and Chennaiyin FC will take place on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 3 PM IST; both matches will be played at the Deccan Arena.
Zinc pay the penalty against Sudeva
Sudeva Delhi FC 2 (Laltinlen Haokip 14’, Ramesh Chhetri 82’ p) defeated Zinc FA 1 (Mohammed Kaif 61’)
Sudeva Delhi and Zinc FA battled it out until the 14th minute, when the former took the lead through Laltinlen Haokip. While Zinc mounted a comeback and drew level a minute after the hour mark through substitute Mohammed Kaif, a late penalty did them in.
Sudeva forward Ramesh Chhetri converted the penalty on the 82nd minute to take his side into the semis.
Chennaiyin dominate Muthoot
Chennaiyin FC 3 (Makakmayum Daniyal 45+1’, Prakadeswaran S 65’, Lalthapuia 90+1’) defeated Muthoot FA 0
In a clash between two sides from the southern reaches of the country, Chennaiyin came away with a commanding victory against Muthoot FA. Forward Makakmayum Daniyal scored in the first half’s injury time to give his side the lead ahead of the breather.
Captain Prakadeswaran S doubled the lead in the 65th, before substitute Lalthapuia secured the 3-0 victory in added time.
